This mangle permits two 'dips' and two nips i.e. the cloth is immersed twice in the liquor and is squeezed twice so that there is greater penetration of the dye-liquor in the cloth. This is particularly useful when dyeing vat or azoic shades This mangle consists of 3 bowls the middle one is rubber-covered and the upper and lower bowls are of brass or vulcanite. The hydraulic or pneumatic system is used to apply uniform pressure on the cloth. The padding mangle is usually combined with a Jigger, squeeze rollers, and drying machines for The subsequent processing of padding cloth. The capacity of the trough is reduced by introducing additional guide rollers in it. The  mangle gives highly satisfactory dyeing cheaper than those  obtained by using a Jigger

IMPROVED MANGLES

While working with two-bowl and three-bowl mangles, it was observed that the mere reduction of the capacity of the trough did not give highly satisfactory results. This is because the dry fabric when entering the mangle contains a considerable amount of air that obstructs the penetration of the liquor. This air has to be driven out i.e. the cloth has to be de-aerated by dry squeezing. Special mangles were, therefore, developed for de-aeration of the cloth before padding and for reducing the liquor space in the trough by arranging the bowls in such a way that they formed o time a trough for the dye-liquor. Three makes of such mangles are used viz. Mangle, Haubold Mangle and Zittau Mangle. All these heezed it will  high improved mangles work on two basic principles viz

1  de-aeration of cloth before padding and

2 use as small, a trough as possible, the trough being formed.... by the bowls themselves
        

The fiber Mangle consists of 4 bowls (2 soft and 2 hard) arranged in two pairs in, such a way that each bowl makes contact with two others. The liquor is encased by the bowl to form a trough and is prevented from escaping by two rubber-covered nickel plates at the end. A perforated pipe is introduced in the liquor space to feed the pad liquor at the rate at which the cloth takes it up. The liquor is fed from a storage tank using a centrifugal pump at the required temperature The maximum capacity of the trough is about 5 liters. The cot enters through the nip of the two bowls which are under very heavy pressure so that the air in it is driven out. The de-crated cloth then passes through the dye liquor, absorbs it quickly, passes around a guide roller inside the trough, and then comes out from the two vertical rollers. It is then taken around another guide roller, re-enters the trough through the nip of the two lower bowls, P passes along another guide roller and comes out of the machine in a horizontal direction. In this machine, the cloth is squeezed 4 times.
